Local Needs Housing
Local needs housing is affordable housing for people with a strong connection to the parish, and can only be built on cheaper 'rural exceptions sites' that can not be developed for market housing.
With the help of Action with Communities in Rural Kent (ACRK), a local needs housing survey was undertaken in April 2005. The survey provided evidence of a substantial need in Coxheath and the initial recommendation was that a total of 21–32 properties could be sustained, comprising one, two and three bedroom dwellings. A potential site on which these properties could be built has now been identified at Clockhouse Farm and there was a parish consultation on the proposal, with others, at the end of October.
